I have nineteen volunteers and four blades, and one of those is a cheese knife. Since the Raid every lad who can stand wants to stand a watch, and I'll not send them out with pitchforks again. Tobin's swamped. If you can work an anvil, forge me three copper blades. Short ones. They're farmers, not knights.

Three blades. The forge in the square is free most mornings, and Tobin won't bite. Probably.

Fine edges, and the tangs won't snap the first time a lad hits a fence-post by mistake. Which he will. You've done the Hold a service. The militia won't forget it, and nor will I. Take this; it was my father's, and he'd want it used.
